Our client, a Chartered Accountants are looking for an individual to join their audit and accounts department. You will be part of a small but growing team based in our newly refurbished offices in Devon. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years experience of working in practice to enable them to hit the ground running. Ideally, the candidate could be either AAT qualified or part way through the ACA/ACCA. However, all relevant experience will be considered.
The role will be varied, involving a mix of accounts preparation/tax as well as both internal and external audit work. The internal audit work generally consists of one day visits to not for profit clients to assess the effectiveness of internal controls. The successful candidate would be expected, subject to suitable training, to be able to undertake these visits alone, so confidence in dealing with clients is essential. Audit experience is preferred, but not essential, as full training would be provided.
Support would be provided for further studies towards the ACA or ACCA qualifications. This includes time off to attend college during the working day and college fees would be paid in full by the firm.
Key responsibilities include:
- Compilation of accounts for limited companies and sole traders
- Preparation of tax returns for individuals and companies
- Bookkeeping and VAT returns
- Undertaking internal and external audit work
As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will work closely with the partners and will have the opportunity to shape their own role as the firm continues to grow.
Salary dependent upon experience (£18,000 to £24,000).
