Financial Analyst

Location- Bristol (Commutable from Bath, Somerset, Swindon, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Cheltenham, Newport, South Wales)

Salary £25-35kpa + excellent benefits package

Ambridge Harris is currently supporting a prestigious Bristol based business in recruiting for a Financial Analyst for their commercially focussed team. You will be responsible for the analysis of the Business with emphasis on the following:

Run the Activity Based Costing (ABC) model and extract results to help management understand the expense base

Support the analysis of bids for new Broker and Corporate partners including reporting on their commercial viability and impact on plan

Through the use of modelling techniques develop, maintain and update forecasting and planning tools, drawing data from varied and relevant sources

Work cross-functionally with departments including Account Management, Underwriting, Actuarial, & wider finance to interpret results and trends and influence decision making

Assisting with the creation of presentations to Senior Management and Board covering actuals, budgets and forecasts

Present business trends, discuss budgeted financial targets and gain support for business case financials

Play a key part in helping to realise the benefits of future business opportunities and meet cost challenges

Build up a detailed understanding of the business's market place and products

This role is a development role and will be ideal for someone who has worked within a commercial finance role or come with a practice background. Advanced excel is a must have. You will be client facing so it is essential that you have the confidence to engage with stakeholders across a range of departments.


  • Be able to bring excellent practical skills with Microsoft Excel and good Office suite skills
  • Be competent in using databases and analytical tools such as SAP Business Warehouse and COGNOS
  • Have a commercial understanding of financial planning, analysis & modelling
  • Ideally come from a financial Services or Legal industry background
  • Be CIMA/ACA/ACCA part or fully qualified/ or equivalent qualification or be able to bring a commercial finance background
    • Have excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Have the ability to explain complex financials in a succinct, logical and straightforward manner to non-financial users
    • Be confident and have the strength of character to challenge managers, colleagues and other stakeholders
