Accounting Team Leader
Main Responsibilities/Duties Include:
*Managing a team of 3 members of staff To ensure that they perform their daily job responsibilities.
*Check monthly journals are correct and verify all journals have been posted
*Make sure that accruals and prepayments and other journals are correctly recorded so the management accounts are robust
*Responsible for the accurate monthly management reporting, of International Power Ltd costs
*Liaise with Business Partners to ensure that department costs are properly understood
*Control and manage the IP Ltd balance sheet Conduct monthly review of International Power Ltd balance sheet, providing commentary on any major variances
*Manage and record correctly the dividend and other income, non-departmental costs, interest, tax and dividend payments
*Assist the Central Functions Business Partner in the preparation of their budgets, forecasts and review of actuals
*Liaise with Business Partners in Central Functions to ensure that budgets and forecasts are correctly submitted in Smart
*To provide information to other accounting staff within the IP Ltd group as required
*To reconcile, on a monthly basis, between SMART, the general ledger (SAP or SUN), management accounts and UK GAAP statutory accounts
*Preparation of management accounts to a high standard in accordance with FRS 101
*Assisting the Financial Reporting team in their preparation of the statutory accounts by answering queries
*Assisting the tax department with any queries they may have in the submission of the tax return
*Preparing tax analysis, and preparing schedules for responses to tax enquiries
*Responsibility for the preparation of supporting information for International
*Dealing with external auditors on all queries raised on the primary books and records during the audit process
*Maintain an accurate in-depth analysis of realised versus unrealised profits to ensure distributable reserves are accurately recorded and the profit and loss is accurately presented in the accounting records
*Management of a team of 3 ensuring that all departmental deadlines and objectives are met and each team member meets their annual objectives
*Prepare quarterly management accounts for covenant reporting purposes To provide ongoing support to the SSC Financial Accounting operations, to include support to ongoing SAP development projects and implementation of projects into live environments
*To develop accounting policies and procedures to the UKBU that align with International Accounting Standards
*Management of SAP ledger, including data archiving and open item management
*Ensure the year end audit process of International Power Ltd is completed within predetermined timescales, accurate and robust schedules are provided to the external auditors, their audit does not identify significant adjustments and a clean audit report is given
*Internal control procedures are adhered to
This position is responsible for all aspects of the accounts of International Power Ltd, having net assets more than EUR6 billion.
Many inter-company account balances and approximately c20 direct investments
Liaising directly with the Central Functions Business Partner during the budget setting process.
The position has 2 direct reports.
*Technical accounting knowledge, IFRS, UK GAAP (FRS 101)
*Analytical skills, able to deal with complex accounting transactions
*Organisational abilities - able to prioritise not only own work role but also of the team
*Able to identify / resolve complex issues - problem solver.
*Attention to detail and accuracy
*Be commercially minded
*Good communicator at all levels, both orally and written
*Systems knowledge - SAP, SUN, SMART
