To start Apprentice wage £3.50 per hour leading to possible management opportunity for the right candidate. 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

Job role and Duties:

You will train from the shop floor upwards and will learn about the product design process.The company specialise in hardware items including ventilators, door handles, and sheet metal work. However, as they complete ad hoc engineering jobs they want to train someone as an all round engineer.

Your day-to-day tasks may include:

    training on basic manual workshop machinery
    CAD, CAM, 3D modelling, CNC machining, CNC punching, CNC laser, pressing, guillotining, folding, Mig and Tig welding, tube manipulating, polishing, powder coating and lacquering- training and working on jig boring
    operating grinding machinery
    learning CNC machinery, punching and laser
    training and working on CNC milling machines
    working alongside experienced engineers on guillotining, folding and pressing.
    in time you may work on CAD designs and learn about the finishing processes completed via sub contractors

Training to be provided:

The training will take place at LEMA academy in Birmingham, B19 where you will be required to attend a 6 week programme prior to starting the apprenticeship and you will spend 2 days per week gaining your Level 1 Certificate in Engineering. On successful completion of this, you will move onto your apprenticeship where 1 day a week will be spent in classroom/workshop based learning to gain your Level 2 Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations and Diploma in Engineering and Technology and 4 days with your employer. On successful completion of your Level 2 Apprenticeship, you will then be given the opportunity to progress to our Level 3 Apprenticeship Programme.

Good IT skills are also essential combined with a minimum of 5 GCSE's grade 9 - 4 including Maths and English or equivalent.This is open to 16-18 year olds.
