JOB TITLE: Finance Officer

LOCATION: Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire

SALARY & BENEFITS: £20,475.00 pro rata (based on 37.5 hours per week)

WORKING HOURS: 20 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

THE COMPANY: Our client is the largest early year’s membership organisation and voluntary sector provider of quality affordable childcare and education in England. An educational charity, they represent the interests of over 14,000 member settings who deliver care and learning to over 800,000 families every year. Due to their continued success, we are now seeking a Finance Officer for their site in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.

THE ROLE: The purpose of this role is to maintain the financial records of the Service Hub within the procedural framework set out by the Board of Trustees and as directed by the line manager. This post is not exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and does require a criminal records check. The level of check required is enhanced.

Key Responsibilities for the Finance Officer role in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire:

To maintain accurate financial records including payments, receipts, cash analysis, banking of receipts, cash withdrawals and raising cheques for authorised invoices, in order to support the administration, maintenance and development of the Service Hub budget.

To raise invoices as appropriate and to maintain credit control.

To prepare all financial returns (including VAT) for authorisation and submission to the service hub and the national centre of the charity within established timescales.

To provide financial information to be used by the service hub in funding applications and in reports to funders.

To offer financial support and services to childcare settings as directed.

Any other reasonable duties as discussed and directed by your line manager.

THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Finance Officer role must meet the below criteria;

Essential criteria for the Finance Officer role in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire:

Evidence of knowledge and experience of bookkeeping.
Knowledge and understanding of IT and intermediate or advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Good organisational skills, a methodical and accurate approach and the ability to work to deadlines.
Ability to work on own initiative and to work as part of a team.
Good communication skills (oral and written).
An understanding of equal opportunities.

Desirable criteria for the Finance Officer role in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire:

Knowledge of VAT.
Knowledge of the voluntary sector.
Accounting qualification such as AAT.
Knowledge of PAYE.
