Legal Cashier – Cardiff and Neath Offices I am looking for a legal cashier to operate out of a client’s Cardiff and Neath Office.PurposeTo process financial transactions on client and office account quickly and accurately, by reference to agreed procedures and authorisation levels in order to ensure that regulatory (SRA) compliance is maintained.Main DutiesThe main aspects of the role are broadly as follows:Banking Oversee banking and related postings to be undertaken by finance assistants.Posting all other client/office receipts on a daily basis so that ledgers are accurate and portray up to date accounts.Issuing cheques (Office and Client)• Checking the ledger for cleared funds.• Checking appropriate authorisation level to ensure compliance with Blake Morgan policy.• Posting the entry to produce a cheque.Bills• Manual – checking, stamping and posting onto the system.• Online – checking, posting, printing and distribution.• Credit Notes – checking, stamping and posting onto the system.General Cashiering• Respond to ad-hoc queries from fee earners and support staff.• Process time and disbursement write-offs.• Process time transfers.Inputting / Releasing Electronic Payments• Checking the ledger for cleared funds.• Inputting details onto the online banking system.• Posting relevant entries to the client ledger.Bank Reconciliation• Inputting Bank statements onto the system.• Complete the Bank reconciliation for client and office accounts.• Ensure all out of date cheques are written back to the ledger.• Ensure the accounts reconcile and resolve any differences before month end.Interest• Process routine and ad-hoc calculations.Compliance• Review monthly reports and engage with fee earners on possible compliance issues.• Record breaches of SRA Accounts Rules on firms breach log.
Post holder will be expected to take on ad-hoc cashiering duties from time to time as well as cover for other members in the team (e.g. for holiday or sickness absence).Person specification• Ability to work as part of a team• Good time management skills, including the ability to work to strict deadlines• Ability to communicate effectively• Education to GCSE C level or above in Maths and English• High levels of numeracy• Proven IT skills• Methodical approach• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy• A minimum of 2 years' Legal Cashier experience is essentialFor a confidential discussion on this role please contact Daniel Mason at our head offices.
