A mainstream primary school in Cardiff have an exciting opportunity available for a professional and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their large and friendly in a full time capacity to commence immediately, until July 2018.

This school are currently looking for an enthusiastic and proactive practitioner to support Key stage 2 pupils within the Special Educational Needs class. You will be working to support children with ASD. As part of a team of 8, you will be working closely with other staff members to ensure the smooth running of the class and supporting the delivery of the curriculum in line with the children's IEPs based around achieving learning outcomes. You will work together to create a positive and stimulating learning environment for the children, where they feel confident and enthusiastic about learning and achieving.

In order to be considered for this role, you will need to have proven experience of supporting pupils within a similar environment in a mainstream school, or of working with children in the same capacity on a 1:1 basis. You will use your excellent interpersonal skills and understanding/experience of supporting pupils with ASD to develop effective working relationships with the pupils. You will be proactive and enthusiastic in nature and will be committed to ensuring that you are supporting the children in the utmost, adapting your support methods according to the needs and IEPs of individual pupils. You will be able to effectively develop rapport with pupils and gain an understanding of their emotional needs, as well as supporting them academically. You will successfully be able to keep the children engaged and on-task, ensuring that tasks are achievable yet stimulating/challenging to help them achieve their potential. You will support the children to develop self-confidence and belief in their ability, using reward and praise as appropriate.
