Job - Teaching Assistant - Cardiff
A full time and long term job opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Assistant to support within a year two class of a large, mainstream Primary School in Cardiff. This will be a full time position, on an ongoing basis and is to start as soon as possible. This is one of our partnership schools that often have various long term and permanent roles available with current staff members being in the school for various lengths of time ranging from 6 months to 5 years. The school is based just outside of the Centre of Cardiff and is very easy to get to via public transport.
This school is widely multicultural, draws from a mixed catchment area and caters to a larger than average Early Years department. The team are extremely friendly and are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join them and provide support with the delivery of Read, Write, Inc. with children within Year two, as well as to provide general classroom support to the pupils and Teachers.
You will work as part of a team to create a positive learning environment, where children feel safe and confident in learning. You will assist with the setting up and delivery of activities including Read, Write, Inc. and you will also monitor the children's progress, feeding back to the Class Teachers accordingly.
You will be responsible for working with groups of children to support them with the completion of learning tasks which will be based on achieving learning goals. You will support them with numeracy, literacy and reading, as well as the completion of themed tasks and topics. You will be able to develop good relationships with the children, and be able to work to support varying ability levels. You will assist the children to be engaged, confident and enthusiastic in learning, using praise and reward to encourage them.
The right person for this role will have;
A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or above/equivalent)
Excellent knowledge and experience of supporting children with the British National Curriculum within a mainstream Primary School environment
Knowledge and practice of supporting/delivering Read, Write, Inc.
A positive and proactive approach to your role as a learning support assistant, and a genuine desire to support pupils in education
Good communication and interpersonal skills - you will be friendly and approachable and build a good rapport with the children and staff
