Subject Leader of Secondary Geography

The school are looking for a Geography teacher / Humanities teacher (to be the Geography subject lead). This school is situated in South East Birmingham. The position is to start January 2018 and initially be until July 2018 as it is a maternity cover contract.

The school is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher of GEOGRAPHY / HUMANITIES who will be a great SUBJECT LEADER OF GEOGRAPHY. You will be required to:·Plan and prepare lessons – Taking responsibility for the Leadership and Management of the curriculum coverage of Geography / Humanities throughout the school – to lead, manage and develop this part of the curriculum – reflecting the schools’ vision and policies at all times·To manage subject budget, prioritise resources and develop positive changes·Teach schemes of work – work with all the other individuals within the Geography and SLT department – this role includes classroom teaching, the professional duties of the subject lead, acting as a form tutor (pastoral element to this role)·Assess, record and report according too departmental and school policy·Promote the well-being and progress of individual pupils' progress·Assist the SLT to achieve the outcomes set out by the school, government regulations and the improvement plan of the school·Provide a stimulating and challenging working environment for the students and other professionals – enhancing teaching practice and encouraging cross – curricular teaching and development·Promote safeguarding and wellbeing of everyone within your position of trust and responsibility – including promoting British Values and adhering to both Safeguarding and Health and Safety policies and procedures·Take responsibility for your own CPD and use resources / seek support to ensure this continuesPlease note that this list is not exhaustive and therefore you must be able and willing to adapt to the necessities of this role.
Qualifications Required: QTS as well as relevant teaching and leadership experience
Salary: Main / Upper Pay Scale range
Hours: 8:20-3:30 Monday to Friday
