Marketing & Events Manager - £34-38k

Working to an agreed business plan and initiatives, with the support and guidance from the board of directors, you are the person who will make things happen! You will act as the champion for initiatives and be the main point of contact for marketing, events and operational matters in our town centre.

The main duties and responsibilities will include:-

  • Maintaining good relationships with key stakeholders (local business owners/managers) by meeting, networking, running events and ensuring mutual goals are agreed, nurtured and developed
  • Ensure the delivery of the main KPIs as set within the business plan
  • Agree, maintain and monitor budgets and provide accounting according to regulatory requirements (working closely with our retained accountancy firm)
  • Monitor and maintain systems for measuring the effectiveness of all aspects of the BID strategy and its delivery
  • Directing and managing all contracts, commitments and agreements including third party agencies and contractors
  • Ensure the delivery of activities, events and promotions within the agreed budgets and timescales
  • Liaise and interface with the appropriate agencies, suppliers of goods and services in order to ensure work undertaken is carried out accordingly
  • Identify and initiate a 12 month rolling events programme; manage all aspects of the programme to ensure timely and cost effective delivery
  • Interact with other town centres to explore successful activities which might be suitable for inclusion in local future marketing plans
  • Generate ways to secure additional funding through private sector involvement and contributions
  • Be a visible, approachable and inclusive team leader; know what's happening, what's working and what we can do to improve and maintain communications
  • Lead, manage and work as part of a small team (3), ensure mutual goals are delivered; reciprocal cover at peak times and holidays

Key competencies:

  • Previous experience in either a BID role and/or within project management and marketing, account management & customer facing role
  • Local knowledge and understanding of the town centre and surrounding area highly beneficial
  • Key competencies in regards to business IT and social media
  • Proven (large scale) event management skills
  • A positive, outgoing personality with a 'can do' attitude is a MUST
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Natural networker, politically astute
  • Team player and people manager
  • Flexible in regards to start and finish times during events and peak periods in the workload
