Design Support Engineer with experience of CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems required for exciting opportunity with my client who are a global manufacture, with 30,000 employees globally they have over 90 years experience delivering engineering solutions across engine, power and consumer products. As a Design Support Engineer you will provide Hardware and Software Systems Administration, Integration, Support, Platform Development and Training for core Computer Aided Design, Product Data Management and Product Lifecycle Management systems.

Design Support Engineer Key Tasks
- To provide administration services on all Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) systems and ensure that systems are available and suitably configured at all times
- To provide training and support in the functional use of the core mechanical CAD software systems, such as PTC Creo.
- To provide training and support in key data management tools / initiatives including Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
- To implement and assist in the maintenance, upgrade and installation of new CAE hardware
- To support and carry out the installation, configuration and maintenance of CAE software as required
- To provide guidance and support to all software users within the UK Design Centers on the use of High Performance PC based systems as well as Application Software and Operating Systems where required
- To keep abreast of relevant technological developments and assist in the introduction, benchmarking and validation of new software and hardware systems as required
- To develop and support Application and Test Software for use within the department in line with team strategies and objectives
- To develop, define and train users in operational processes associated with correct use of CAE facilities
- To work within the guidelines of Departmental and Company processes and review and improve these processes on a continuous basis
- To work within the guidelines of Departmental and Company: Policies, Procedures and Work Instructions

Design Support Engineer Skills/Requirements

- A technical based academic background encompassing one or more of the following: ‘A’ level, Higher National or Degree, in a technical discipline would be desirable
- Detailed hands on working knowledge of PTC Creo and Siemens NX mechanical design software would be advantageous
- Experience working within a technical environment, such as typified by design and development in a manufacturing business
- Experience and skills will determine the level that the role is actually positioned.A flexible approach, with the ability to adapt rapidly to new developments and to grasp innovative technologies and systems
- Proven time management and prioritization skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Customer focus and customer service skills would be advantageous
- Experience of some of the following technologies:
- CAD Siemens NX and Teamcenter
- PTC Creo and PDMLink
- Windows Operating Systems
- Microsoft Office Applications
- PDM and PLM Systems
- Unix / Linux experience would be advantageous but not essential
