Company & Project: Top Main Contractor operating in the Education, Commercial, Leisure, Healthcare and Science/Pharmaceutical sectors on a national basis, are seeking to recruit an experienced an effective Senior Planner to complement their Pre-Construction team, based on projects in Bedfordshire.

Our client has an enviable reputation in the East of England, and especially in the East Anglia market. The company is arguably the market leader at present for project wins and over the past 20yrs have also had a stable and established reputation not only locally but nationally.

The senior management team is well respected, long standing and noted for its communication skills and work-life balance they make clear to all employees.

Duties & Responsibilities: The successful candidate will take responsibility for the tender planning function including all pre con duties from initial enquiry to contract award. The ideal candidate will have extensive client facing experience in addition to first rate communication and analytical skills.

Managing the planning, programming and progress control of live projects will also be a key part of the role, liaising with clients, subcontractors and suppliers. This candidate should have an excellent knowledge of either Primavera P6 and/or ASTA PowerProject and be fully conversant with producing cost and resource loaded programmes.

Previous experience in critical path analysis is essential including construction delivery, technical design, and financial risk. This information should then be utilised to establish key milestones within the project and communicate the same to the rest of the project management team.

A proactive approach will be required for progress monitoring including regular site inspections and update meetings with the Project Management teams for individual projects.

Desirable Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience with live project planning on large construction projects, £10m+.
  • 5 years+ experience with main contractors in pure planning roles, carrying out both pre and post contract planning duties.
  • Strong track record on a range of projects including Commercial, Education, Leisure & Retail.
  • Good working knowledge of ASTA PowerProject and/or Primavera P6.
  • Ideally from a practical construction background-Project/Site Manager or Site Engineer.
  • Previous Roles: Planning Manager OR Senior Planner OR Project Planner.

Qualifications & Skills: Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from a recognised institution at 2:1 or better.
