British Sign Language Assistant | Leicester | Temporary Position
A local Special Needs School based in Leicester are currently seeking a Sign Language Assistant to work with pupils who are either deaf or have verbal communication issues. The School cater for children aged between 4 to 16. This post is to start as soon as possible and the School are open to considering candidates on a full or part time basis working Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.30am and 3..30pm.
As a Sign Language Assistant you will be working both 1:1 and with small groups of pupils. You will be asked to support pupils across the School from lower primary to secondary and to cover a variety of subjects and classes. Your main responsibility is to ensure the pupils you support are consistently working to positive outcomes and are cared for to the highest standards.
You will need either a valid qualification within British Sign Language or extensive experience with British Sign Language working with young children, ideally those with Special Needs but this is not essential. You will be a motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with students who struggle to communicate verbally.
You will be offered an immediate temporary post which has the potential to become long term and also have the opportunity to learn from Specialist SEN staff. You will earn a competitive daily rate of pay and the opportunity to undertake additional training as required.
