Postscript is a flourishing mail order and ecommerce book company established in 1987 based near Newton Abbot in Devon. We sell history, arts and humanities titles through our Postscript catalogue mailed out monthly, our website www.psbooks.co.uk and via ecommerce channels. The books are sourced from a variety of publishers and wholesalers.

This multi-layered and challenging role is an excellent opportunity for a well-organised, creative and analytical person to further their career in an expanding and forward-thinking company. As well as being closely involved in all aspects of catalogue production and development, you will be liaising with and supporting the Marketing department, and contributing to creative social media content. You will report directly to the Catalogue Manager.

Main tasks

Assisting with all aspects of the monthly catalogue production processProviding full cover for the Catalogue Manager when requiredDeveloping, contributing to and posting social media content Liaising closely with the Marketing department and assisting in marketing related dutiesAdministering the website for catalogue-related marketing activitiesResearching and helping with the promotion of new productsLiaising closely with copy editor, designer and print companiesPreparing reports and analysis of customer, stock and sales trendsHandling supplier and ad hoc queries on behalf of the Catalogue ManagerEnsuring all schedules and deadlines are metGeneral ad hoc duties across the Catalogue and Marketing departmentsRequirements

We require an energetic, well-organised, ambitious, self-motivated and creative person with the ability to cope with tight schedules, working in a small team in a busy office environment.

Whilst training will be given for all tasks, an extensive working knowledge of MS Office, and particularly Excel, is essential. A working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and InDesign would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will preferably have work experience in a Business to Consumer environment and have some demonstrable experience in producing commercial social media content. A high degree of accuracy, analytical skills, excellent spelling and literacy, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential. The monthly catalogue schedule requires a strict adherence to deadlines, and the successful applicant will be key to the smooth running of this operation.
