Financial Controller

Salary: Up to £40,000 depending on experience + Fantastic career prospects

Our client is a well-established SME business in Blackpool. Due to continued success they have ambitious plans for growth and are looking to fill a new position which would suit a part or fully qualified Financial Controller who is looking for an involving, strategic role within an exciting company. This promises to be a busy, varied post that incorporates a wide range of duties from monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts to weekly & monthly payroll. Duties will include:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and Board pack
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Co-ordinate and deliver budgets and forecasts
  • Daily bank reconciliations & preparation of weekly cash flow forecasts
  • Reconcile and post expenses and petty cash
  • Maintain the purchase and sales ledger. Make monthly payment runs for suppliers.
  • Prepare VAT and EC Sales Declarations
  • Hire purchase & leasing agreements
  • Manage fixed assets register
  • Prepare all year end functions and liaise with external auditor
  • Prepare monthly / weekly salaries and all year end salary procedures, administration of pension scheme, liaise with Customs & Revenue and employees as necessary
  • Review and recommend improvements in controls and procedures to drive cost saving initiatives
  • Optimise the Credit Control function
  • Ensure all recurring and project based income is billed in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Carry out tasks as defined in any direct report’s job profile/s
  • Participate in regular training/ learning activities to maintain and develop skills and knowledge

Experience & skills required:

  • AAT qualified, CIMA or ACCA qualified or part qualified
  • Up to date knowledge of payroll processing and personal taxation
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks &/or Sage
  • Good knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ideally previous experience of working within a SME through a phase of growth
  • Experience (or the potential) to supervise and nurture new recruits
