Location: Birmingham

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a 20-year-old, physically disabled female student who is in her 2nd year studying Product Design at Birmingham City University.

About Our Client

  • Our client suffered a C5/C6 incomplete spinal cord injury during gymnastics practice in September 2013.
  • Physically disabled (electric wheelchair user)
  • Currently studying in her 2nd Year at Birmingham City
  • Passionate about gymnastics
  • Enjoys watching TV programs, Big Bang Theory, 24 hours in A&E, Gogglebox, Tattoo Fixers, and the music channels, to name but a few.
  • Very independent and sociable but will also spend time chilling watching Netflix, movies, TV and listening to music and shopping of course!

    This job would be ideal for a female graduate with similar interests. No care experience is needed as all training will be given.

    This is a great opportunity to really help make a difference to our client’s academic achievements and university experience.

    Your role will be to provide personal, academic and social support to enable our client to achieve her goals.

    Our client lives in a student flat in halls and enjoys her own free time and having her own space, so between you both a routine can be agreed together.

    You will provide our client's academic support, (note-taking, library support and practical assistance), personal / health care and social support. This is more of a "A big sister / flat mate " type of role and includes all the fun things you’d expect a 20 year old to be doing.

    The is a job share live-in position to work one week on/one week off with one other PA. Whilst on shift you will have your own room in the same student flat as our client.

    Rate of Pay:

  • £455.00 per week worked + Student Support (earn up to £300 extra)
  • One week Live-In /One week off
  • Free accommodation when on shift
  • 5.6 weeks holiday pro rata
  • Skills required for this job are:

  • Have an interest in Design or be a Creative person
  • A mature and responsible attitude
  • Good organisational skills and being able to work from your own initiative
  • Organised, patient, reliable. "A big sister" role.
  • Caring and have a good sense of humour
  • Be professional
  • You will be fully trained prior to starting, so previous experience of this type of work is not essential.
  • Have English as your first language.
  • Non-Smoker
  • Be clean and tidy in both your appearance and ways.
  • You must be able to respect our client's privacy and have an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of your work.
