Product Manager – Optical Sensor Devices
Our client is a global market leader in the provision of measuring and monitoring instrumentation applications for use in Meteorology, Environmental, Energy and Infrastructure sectors.
They are seeking a Product Manager for their Optical Instrumentation Range who will coordinate efforts to ensure that the company offers products that satisfy the measuring and monitoring needs of its customers across all market areas. This requires intimate knowledge of customer needs and market opportunities, along with solid comprehension of the technology required to satisfy those needs.
You will organise the long-term strategy for the Optical Products Range and plan specific projects to achieve that strategy. Reporting to the Group Sales Manager you will also collaborate with the Technical Director and R&D Team to develop design criteria relevant to specific product developments.
With this in mind, you will maintain a high level of market knowledge about competitor’s products, remain abreast of outside research efforts and new technology, write and publish technical and educational material on the Company’s Optical Products, prepare original research for publication and presentation, and assist application engineers to support customers.
You will also undertake customer visits and travel to conferences and trade shows to provide customer service, and to learn about existing and new market opportunities. Travel will also be required to support other group companies to promote the Optical Products and use in their key markets, which may be abroad.
HND or Degree in Engineering or relevant Science subject.
Proven experience working as a Product Manager, ideally with market knowledge of Optical Sensor or Measuring devices, or of key markets such as Meteorology and Aviation.
Technical knowledge of scientific measurement or monitoring devices.
Customer focused and able to analyse and define customer requirements and translate this into viable R&D projects.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Team working, problem solving, decision maker, well organised, able to influence others, strategic thinker.
Full Driving Licence and prepared to travel.
