Position: Digital Content Designer


Location: Essex


Day Rate: Up To £350 Per Day


Duration: 3 Months

Randstad are working with an organisation within the public sector. This organisation have an ambitious digital strategy and are embarking on a period of significant change in the way that they do things and the way that their users interact with them.

They have a new Digital Team and need to deliver a number of high profile, user focused projects in the next 12 months. Their goal is to deliver services and information in a simpler, clearer and faster way to their residents and businesses.


Youll need to be able to:
* take complex language and processes and make them simple to understand
* be persuasive to make the case for userfocused content
* be able to explain your decisions clearly

Main responsibilities


Youll be working on needs analysis and relating what users need to existing content, identifying gaps and overlaps.
Youll need to work with colleagues across the Council to help them meet user needs in their service areas. This will involve deciding on the right formats to use as well as meeting Government Digital Standards.


Youll be:
* working with a multidisciplinary team to understand user behaviour
* identifying actionable improvements to content based on test results and feedback
* making sure end to end user journeys are the best they can be
* identifying and capturing user stories
* scoping, commissioning, writing, editing and publishing digital content
* managing relationships with subject matter experts to make sure content is accurate
* producing content assets that are accurate, timely and high quality
* applying Search Engine Optimisation best practice
* choosing the best format for displaying information to the user if we dont have one, well want you to suggest ideas or identify the gap
* making sure appropriate policy and legal checks are done for statutory content
* monitoring the performance of content using the appropriate tools

They work in an agile environment. You must be at ease with rapidly changing deadlines, workloads and goals.


It is essential that you have:

* extensive experience of writing for the web
* a solid understanding of Government Digital Standards and how to apply them
* proven ability to create content that is in Plain English and optimised for search engines
* attention to detail
* proven ability to deliver accessible content that is AA compliant
* proven ability to use Google Analytics and user feedback to define and improve content
* proven experience of managing relationships with stakeholders including influencing and challenging decisions that dont meet user need
* experience in working with content publishing systems
It is desirable that you have:
* basic knowledge of HTML to manage text and links
* experience of Sharepoint
* experience of working at
gov.uk
