Senior Legal Advisor

We work in over 100 countries across the world in the fields of arts and culture, English language, education and civil society. Each year we reach over 20 million people face to face and more than 500 million people online, via broadcasts and publications.
Our Legal team focuses on strategic legal issues. These can include partnerships and joint ventures, conflict of laws/ cross-border issues, legal status, oversight of major contracts and strategy for resolution of major disputes.
As Senior Legal Advisor, you will be providing comprehensive, efficient and cost-effective legal advice to designated client functions. Much of your business as usual work will be with our Education & Society (E&S) Business. Therefore, you could be providing legal support on major programmes such as the Erasmus+ Programme, working with business development teams on large scale Development programmes funded by DfiD, or our work promoting UK Education globally. Importantly, large scale commercial contracts work, including the development of policies, guidance and training, will be at the core of your role.
In addition to the core provision of expert legal advice and support, you may also lead and/or input on a range of change initiatives and projects. These could include contributing to / managing the development of our Model Contracts Portal; major status change initiatives across Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East.
There is likely to be an element of both international and UK travel within this role, but this is unlikely to be extensive.
What we require of the successful candidate:
- Lawyer qualified in common law jurisdiction
- Sufficient post-qualification experience
- International legal experience
- Commercial experience
