Duties & Responsibilities

The John Lewis Partnership owns and operates five Hallberg-Rassy yachts, based on the River Hamble. The Sailing club exists to provide our staff with opportunities to experience and enjoy sailing, our skippers are staff members and the club is a RYA sailing school. We are looking for a new Bo'sun to join our very special club.
You'll need to have a great understanding of yachts, a deep specialism in at least one marine area, be able to respond to maintenance issues and develop a proactive approach to ensure that the yachts are ready to be enjoyed by your colleagues. Job Requirements

Ensures the Partnership’s yachts are compliant with relevant regulations and available for use by the Partnership Sailing Club
Responsible for maintenance requests, reactive and urgent maintenance issues as identified by Club Skippers and directed by the Sailing Secretary and Rear Commodore (Fleet)
Carry out planned preventative maintenance as per assigned schedules
Ensure maintenance costs represent best value and agreed levels of service are achieved
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders

Required essential experience skills and qualifications

Is able to demonstrate a high degree of competence in one of the following yacht maintenance skills, and to a working degree in others:
Carpentry
Marine plumbing
Marine electrics
Marine electronics
Maintaining diesel engines
Competence to handle a yacht of up to 12m LOA under auxiliary power

Required desirable experience skills and qualifications

To demonstrate competent driving skills and follow Partnership Drivers Handbook guidelines.

An effective communicator, able to competently converse with Partners at all levels with a positive approach - the successful candidate will be self-motivated and able to manage time and priorities effectively.
