A wonderful opportunity exists for an experienced approvals/EMC engineer or Senior engineer to move to the next level. Our client is a leading international provider of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), electrical safety and radio approvals services. Applications are invited for the position of Technical Manager based at one of our state-of-the-art laboratories in Scotland to manage all technical aspects of the laboratory’s activities. The successful candidate will hold an MSc/MEng/MPhys or equivalent year of experience, with at least 5 years’ experience in a technically responsible position within an EMC/RF testing or product development environment. Often called upon to advise the Laboratory Business Manager on technical issues, (s)he will be familiar with and operate in accordance with the requirements of ISO17025. Other responsibilities will include maintaining familiarity with the standards to which both accredited and non-accredited measurements are performed within the laboratory as well as maintaining a knowledge of developments within the relevant areas of testing. The laboratory has a comprehensive technical development plan and a key role will be to manage all technical developments while also managing calibration, validation/verification work and technical audits of the testing personnel. There will be occasional travel to customer meetings and other locations in the UK. There is also the opportunity to contribute to our delivery of CPD training courses. The successful candidate will be able to evidence excellent personal organisation and time management skills; a demonstrable proactive approach; a track-record of project management and ownership (senior engineer); a willingness to progress in both the Institute of Leadership & Management scheme and to gain Chartered Engineer status.
