The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has been the force behind gardening for more than 200 years. We believe everyone in every village, town and city should benefit from growing plants to enhance lives, build stronger, healthier, happier communities and create better places to live. We want to enrich everyone’s life through plants and make Britain a greener and more beautiful place.

As a charity, we need everyone to be aware of the many environmental and well-being benefits that growing plants and gardening brings. Our work is vast and we reach a wide range of audiences by providing information, advice and inspiration at our shows and gardens, in our publications and online and through our extensive community and school gardening campaigns.

The Press Officer, RHS Chatsworth Flower Show, is responsible for generating sustained, high profile media coverage of the RHS Chatsworth Flower Show (6-10 June 2018), communicating key messages and helping to achieve visitor targets.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated and experienced press officer to gain invaluable experience of a high profile PR campaign within a world renowned charity. You will have a proven record of delivering excellent PR results, and will have experience of working effectively with multiple stakeholders and managing competing deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment. You will have a positive and proactive approach, and be a great communicator.

Experience in promoting visitor attractions or events and achieving high profile press coverage to drive visitor numbers, as well as demonstrable experience in issues management, are important requirements for this role. Knowledge of the UK media, experience of using social media platforms and of carrying out PR for a consumer-facing organisation are also highly desirable.
