Senior Category Manager (Product Management - Retail & Trade) £37,000 > 47,000 + Pension, Health, Bonus, Staff Discount, Free Parking, Flexi-hours West Yorkshire SITUATION: Here we have a manufacturing business with complete UK dominance in four out of six product categories, selling through multiple channels with hundreds of highly successful products within each category. They have a reputation for product innovation, an instantly recognisable brand and a reputable history of success underpinning it all. QUESTION: So, what would this mean for driven Senior Category Manager? ANSWER: Firstly, you will have a solid platform to leverage companywide success and take advantage of opportunities in the remaining two categories across the UK. Secondly, you will have the opportunity to focus on the more lucrative markets within Europe and beyond where catchment is currently less than 2% and consumer demand for product development in these categories is high. A truly exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, developing product and marketing plans that support the long-term growth business growth. Working in partnership with the Sales & Marketing team and very closely with the NPD teams you will have all the tools and support needed to be successful including a high impact product showcase environment for customer presentations. The role will take you across UK and into Europe meeting, networking and delivering presentations to large scale, reputable retail and trade customers. You will support trade shows/exhibitions and travel outside of Europe (e.g. China, India and USA) to meet new and existing suppliers. SENIOR CATEGORY MANAGER KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Drive/report on sales, profit and margin for designated product groups against agreed targets In conjunction with the NPD team identify, research, develop and launch new products within the agreed centres of excellence Understand buying patterns and propose local merchandising solutions to support the growth of your categories throughout Europe Enhance new and existing products through design or the redesign of products and/or packaging, in line with branding, core values and ease of use. Develop a detailed understanding of the changing market place through close relationships with sales teams, customers and the market Provide range and category management services to key customers working in partnership with the International sales management team to provide solutions for target customers Provide technical, legal, data and general product information as required In cooperation with Marketing Services, prepare literature, customer support materials and training for product groups Have a commercial awareness performance of the business and its product groups Seek to reduce costs to obtain "value for money" and improve margin, in conjunction with the purchasing department SENIOR CATEGORY MANAGER REQUIREMENTS Proven Product Category Management in retail and/or trade channels An appreciation of product marketing, advertising and "point of sale" display strategies Analytical skills Excellent communication skills, verbal and written Comfortable delivering formal product presentations backed by credible data Have an interest in technical, engineered consumer products Full driving licence To be considered for the role you will need to click "APPLY NOW" and send your CV to Emma Brighouse at Morgan Ryder Associates.
