Role: Advanced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer (Permanent) Location: Atherstone Salary: £39000-42000k PA I am currently looking for a new Advanced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join my clients leading global manufacturing organisation. A permanent opportunity, the role is to be based at one of our large manufacturing plants, preferably in Atherstone however candidates can work from Loughborough or Newton Aycliffe with travel to other sites. Role Responsibilities *Support our senior PI+CS engineers, using your technical ability to ensure capital projects are completed in full and on time, delivering new or improved manufacturing capability, productivity improvements or cost reduction. *Designing PLC based industrial control systems for automated manufacturing machinery. You will be expected to continue developing your technical competency through a mixture of ongoing experience and training. *This is primarily a hands-on technical role, with an approximate split of 70% towards hands-on design and 30% project management. Depending on the project, you will work either independently or under the supervision of one of our senior engineers to fulfil the following responsibilities: *Design of new control systems or modifications to existing control systems for automated manufacturing machinery, from conception through to handover, including: *Specification development to ensure customer requirements are understood and achieved. *Concept design. *Detailed electrical design. *Control system software including PLC, SCADA, HMI and drive systems. *Installation planning and management. *Commissioning, documentation and handover. *Working as part of a multi-disciplined project team or independently to specify, control and monitor the electrical design and software for capital projects, including: *Development of project scope, specification, programme and estimated cost. *Design reviews and acceptance *Supporting the PI+CS team and wider engineering organisation to provide technical excellence in the field of control systems. Skills, Experience and Key Capabilities *Proven technical ability in design and programming of Rockwell Automation based control systems including PLC, SCADA, drives and motion control. *Experience of Wonderware SCADA systems. *Experience in the design and validation of functional safety systems for machinery. *Project Engineering experience. *Industrial vision inspection experience, preferably using Cognex equipment. *Gauging Systems experience *PLC software and electrical design *HND or Degree in electrical or control engineering or equivalent training or experience is essential
