Our client is a privately owned UK company established in 1983 and they have an outstanding international reputation in the fields of high voltage pulse generation and high speed cameras. Their products are unique and impressive and may be found in applications ranging from nuclear through to biological/medical research, and are even used to probe the ice sheets in the Antarctic. They are currently looking for an Electronics Engineer to join their team in Oxfordshire on a full time basis. Duties & Responsibilities: - Be involved in projects from the initial specification through the production process up to final shipment - Engineering design, development and commissioning duties - Liaise with the customer, the production department and coordinate with the production schedule - Some 'physical' engineering such as mechanical layout and panel design - Generate drawings fit for engineering and production in electronic format - Ensure adequate engineering records are kept - Occasionally, fault find down to the component level, with reference to circuit diagrams - Fix details at final test e.g. component values, cable lengths, embedded firmware - Respond appropriately to an increase in work load, prioritising whilst maintaining high standards Candidate Requirements: - Good first degree in Electronic Engineering/Physics or equivalent - Interest in and good general knowledge of physics - Good understanding of analogue and digital electronic hardware - Good practical 'hands-on' electronic design and fault finding skills - Ability to produce drawings adequate for production - Familiarity with PCB design - Good IT skills - Able to plan and work to deadlines The ideal candidate will also preferably have experience/knowledge of: high voltage techniques to 20kV, high speed GHz digital electronics ( PECL, CML), analogue RF and microwave techniques, real time embedded programming ( ARM Cortex, FORTH), computer programming (Python), PGA programming (VHDL), mechanical engineering CAD (2D or 3D), electro-optics/lasers, sub-nanosecond optical or X-ray framing cameras/streak cameras, sub-nanosecond pulse generators and image-intensifiers.
