We have an excellent opportunity for Shift Mechanics to work in one of our large international businesses, at their Birmingham factory.

The client is looking for a Shift Mechanic on the morning shift (6am - 2pm) and on the afternoon shift (2pm - 10pm), working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • To provide immediate mechanical assistance on production equipment to enable machinery to continue running

The following are essential functions, duties and responsibilities of the job, other duties may be assigned by the Production Supervisor and may vary due to business necessity:

  • Continually patrol production looking for issues or faults

  • Monitor production computer making note of fluctuations and acting accordingly

  • Perform machine alignments and mold cleaning to comply with QC standards

  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs in order to keep machinery running

  • To perform all work in accordance with the companies training and safety guidelines and for the safety of yourself and you colleagues to be a paramount.

  • Prioritize jobs in line with production needs

  • Comply with all policies and procedures.

  • Undergo training as necessary to keep up to date with the machinery knowledge

  • Treat all employees with respect and in a professional manner

  • To fully integrate the companies top four priorities of Safety, Quality, Service & Efficiency in to the role

In addition this role requires someone who can take instruction well and then work on their own initiative, who can solve problems and is a methodical worker, good communicator and understands the importance of working safely at all times for the sake of themselves and their colleagues.

Specific Job Skills: Good levels of numeracy and literacy required, along with some mechanical aptitude. To be considered for this role, you must have either experience in a mechanical/engineering role or have completed an apprenticeship/college course in a related subject.
