Web Systems and Infrastructure Software Apprentice
We are seeking an individual to undertake the position of Web Systems and Infrastructure Apprentice based in Liverpool.
You will be registered on a level 3 advanced apprenticeship with our approved training provider Remit Training, and be committed to obtaining the formal qualification as outlined in your apprenticeship. Upon completion of the level 3 qualification the successful candidate may be given the opportunity to undertake a further 1 year, level 4 apprenticeship.
Using the latest technology and standards, you will contribute to development and implementation of complex solutions to enable visualisation and dissemination of scientific data from the marine environment. This post will also provide support to develop, design, maintain, and monitor our Virtual Machine web infrastructure and software stack.

The post holder will undertake a 1 year training programme in order to achieve this Level 3 apprenticeship qualification equipping them to work as a Web Systems Infrastructure and Software Engineer within the Data Centre IT team. Upon successful completion of the Level 3 standard you may be given the opportunity to undertake a further 1 year level 4 apprenticeship.
You will contribute to the development and implementation of complex solutions to enable visualisation and dissemination of scientific data from the marine environment. The post will also provide support to develop, design, maintain, and monitor the companies Virtual Machine web infrastructure and software stack. To achieve this will require excellent communication skills and customer focus.
You will be willing to undertake additional training as required to fulfil this post and assist with your professional development. You will have the flexibility to vary working hours on occasions and undertake a range of tasks to support the small team.

Interest or some experience in the following:
- website design

- digital forensics and system monitoring
- defending against web attacks
- ethics of hacking
- search engine optimisation (SEO)
- help desk and user support
web application testing
Familiarity with Linux preferably CentOS, Redhat, Fedoraare supported.
A drive to stay up to date with new technologies and to champion their adoption where suitable for the company.
The apprentice will work towards a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in IT, Software, Web and Telecoms. The qualifications consist of:
- Advanced Apprenticeship in IT, Software, Web and Telecoms
- L3 Diploma in ICT Professional Competence
- L3 Extended Diploma in ICT Systems and Principles
- Level 2 Functional Skills English, Maths & ICT (if applicable)
