Our Finance Team

Our Finance team has developed a brand and identity “Strength in Numb€rs”. They live by these values to help the business achieve its goals. Recognition is key in our team, that’s why we have both monthly and annual awards to reward great performance.

We have lots of extracurricular activities you can get involved in and dedicated teams who focus on increasing engagement and organising social events. We even have our own newspaper!

Training, Support and Development

Our 3 year graduate scheme will provide you with the foundation to a successful career at AkzoNobel. We will start supporting you even before you join us in the office by allocating a buddy, another graduate, who will support you and help you transition in your first year. You will also be assigned a senior mentor who will guide and coach you throughout your rotations.

We’ll support you in attaining CIMA qualification, and you will receive regular pay reviews and bonuses as you progress. AkzoNobel fully fund the qualification and provide paid study leave. You will also get the support of our training coordinator, a graduate off the scheme to help you find the learning method that works with you and help plan your exams.

You will make three rotations to help you get well rounded experience and develop your financial, business and soft skills. Within the roles you will also have flexibility to undertake different activities depending on your needs, gaining experience in different operational areas, building your understanding of the business and much more.

Rotations


The Programme consists of a series of placements across different groups within the finance function in to help you gain exposure to a variety of business critical activities. We are structured into four core groups: Accounting & Compliance, Decision Support, Financial Planning and Analysis, Supply Chain. We have roles available in both Business2Customer (Dulux Decorator Centres) and Business2Business (B&Q, Homebase, Wickes) across Slough and Manchester.

The Accounting team partner the business with end to end financial processes, including both corporate and statutory reporting. They provide expertise to protect in all areas of financial control and provide insight as subject matter experts in all areas of accounting.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Team providing insightful management reporting, forecasting and budgeting enabling the senior leadership team to make informed decisions and take corrective actions on time ensuring the business can deliver on its results.

Commercial Decision Support works closely with the Sales and Marketing functions to support and influence decisions on Promotions, Trading Agreements, New Product Development and Marketing Spend. They help influence business strategy and drive profitable growth.

The Supply Chain Finance Team works closely with Purchasing, R&D, Production and Logistics. One of the most varied roles this area spans from cost control, to stock management and the team are involved in investment appraisals working closely with local management teams.

These rotations will help you gain a good understanding of our business so you can build your finance career when you come off our graduate scheme.

About You

If you have the ambition to become part of our world class operation and develop a career in Finance you will need to have achieved at least a 2:1 or equivalent* in any degree discipline, a minimum 300 UCAS points or equivalent** and speak fluent English. A degree with Finance, Accounting or Business would be beneficial but not essential.

You must have strong interpersonal skills to work with colleagues across functions, cultures and at different levels within the business. You will also need to be the type of person who can inspire change and innovate as well as simplify how we work and bring a pioneering approach to ensure we continually improve. Comfortable working in a team, you will need strong project management and analytical skills and be comfortable working on multiple projects with new groups that could be based in different locations.

Previous relevant work experience would be an advantage.
