THE COMPANY:

Brewster Pratap Engineering are working with a Worksop based client who are looking to recruit a Factory Manager.

THE JOB:

Job Purpose:

To take full responsibility for aspects of Production including the site and staff management.

To ensure effective and efficient manufacture of customer orders in accordance with instructions.

To effectively manage the production resources, including mill/warehouse and label room operators within both budgeted cost and performance targets and all legislative requirements.

Duties:

Staff Management

  • Be responsible for management of all reporting staff.
  • Ensure all functions are adequately staffed.
  • Monitor and review production performance against objectives.
  • Appraise Supervisors on an annual basis, with regular reviews and discussions throughout the year. Make sure Supervisors appraise their teams on time.
  • Handle operator grievances within the company policy.
  • Using operator's clock cards monitor time keeping, taking action as required.
  • Ensure the availability of workers when overtime is required.
  • Keep electronic records of all staff related issues that you have dealt with including training, coaching, correcting and general feedback. All meetings including informal ones must be recorded.
  • Manage staff holidays ensuring we are not short of workers due to workers being on holiday.
  • Ensure company standards are met through a consistent, effective, management approach.

Manufacturing

  • Ensure product is manufactured to meet the product protocols required to satisfy customer order requirements.
  • Ensure product is manufactured to meet vehicle-loading schedules.
  • Ensure we achieve maximum efficiency from the staff and all other resources at our disposal.
  • Minimize waste produced in the factory
  • Continuously evaluate shift performance and deliver a consistent way of operating that delivers the highest possible efficiency.

Health & Safety

  • Be responsible for and ensure all H&S procedures are adhered to and promote and enforce Health & Safety of self and others throughout production.
  • Issue, train and maintain a record of all PPE required.
  • Police health and safety consistently and fairly ensuring all warnings are documented on the changeover sheet and reported to the Operations Director.
  • Act on and report any safety risks immediately, never compromise or allow others to compromise their safety carrying out any task on site.

Quality

  • Ensure all activities taking place in production are done to the correct quality standard.
  • Ensure all goods are produced to the correct quality standard
  • Ensure product change overs are carried out in accordance with the work procedure to eliminate risk of cross contamination and build-up of product in the overage area.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the work procedures.

Training

  • Ensure training records for every employee are kept up to date.
  • Ensure all operators are trained in all required areas.
  • Ensure all training requirements are fulfilled.
  • Ensure operators are adequately trained for the task they are requested to carry out.
  • Develop existing workforce as part of our succession planning.

System Controls

  • Participate in periodic stocktakes.
  • Ensure correct stock rotation.
  • Ensure correct barcodes on raw materials are being used.

THE CANDIDATE:

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience of managing within a fast-paced factory environment
  • Excellent influencing skills
  • Excellent communicating skills at all levels
  • Computer Literate
  • Proven track record in managing small teams successfully
  • Production/manufacturing background
  • Proven ability to promote H&S in the workplace
  • Knowledge of process control systems
