Database Administrator / Analyst Programmer - Accrington

Your new role

You will be responsible for the maintenance and development of the company's intranet and bespoke web based applications & databases both serving internal and external customers.

You will also be working with the administration of the company's SQL Database and web servers.

You will help to drive business improvements through the application of IT to simplify business systems, integrate, and automate where possible while ensuring that existing systems remain both available and relevant.

What you'll need to succeed

Technically;

Have experience working with the following web based application development:

* VB.Net and ASP programming / application development
* Database driven application development
* XML
* Html/Css
* Microsoft Visual Studio
* Dreamweaver

Have experience working with the following activities in Microsoft SQL Server:

* SQL2012 Database administration
* Index optimisation
* Backup & Recovery
* SQL Query Language
* Database View / Functions / Stored Procedure creation and maintenance
* SQL Server Integration Services [SSIS]
* SQL Reporting Services [SRS]


Personally;

You must have good communication skills both verbal and written. It essential that you can interact with primarily internal customers to gauge requirements, understand issues and convey technical issues / solutions in a way that is appropriate to the audience. Solutions developed will need to be documented, demonstrated and explained.

Be approachable ; must be able to engage with internal customers, in-order to draw out exact requirements, and extract the root cause of issues

Be self-starting ; able to take on a task without constant need for direction

Strong organisational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines and budgets with business acumen

Flexible, with the ability to adjust priorities based on business need.

Show initiative; recognise areas for improvement and submit proposals
