Glasgow Caledonian University is a vibrant multi-cultural modern university in the centre of Glasgow and is placed amongst the top 150 modern Universities in the world (THE, 2017). Our welcoming community of 1,500 staff as well as 20,000 students from more than 100 countries enjoys a wide range of award-winning support services and state of the art facilities across each of our campuses in Glasgow, London and New York. Our University mission, commitment to the Common Good and core values of integrity, creativity, responsibility and confidence are integral to everything we do.

The Communications and Public Affairs team is looking for a highly skilled internal communications officer who can juggle the requirements of a dynamic corporate environment with the needs of our staff across the university's three campuses. Your role will be to offer lively, engaging articles and images that staff will wish to consume. There is also a modest involvement in student communications and events. The successful candidate will manage multiple projects and demonstrate initiative, flexibility and an ability to work as part of a busy wider team handling external communications and public affairs.

You will be called upon to support staff events, develop internal communications plans for key projects and demonstrate an awareness of crisis communications procedures. GCU is committed to staff engagement against a backdrop of the University's development programme, Strategy 2020. A comprehensive communications programme across all media platforms is to ensure stakeholders are fully informed.

With experience of working in a large complex environment, you will recognise the importance of building strong collaborative relationships with colleagues across the University, including the Executive Board, and providing professional support and guidance to other departments and Academic Schools in relation to their requirements.

You will have strong oral and written communication skills, and be a confident user of digital communications tools including social media.

As the University for the Common Good, we are committed to embedding equality and diversity, as well as our values in everything that we do. As such, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who demonstrate the GCU Values.

Applicants must have the continued right to live and work in the United Kingdom to apply for this vacancy.

Please note that the appointment will be made on the first point of the salary scale (unless by exception).
