Aircraft Engineering Section Shift Leader - RAF Northolt
Royal Air Force (RAF) Station Northolt is located 15 miles west of the city of London, in the Borough of Hillingdon. RAF Northolt is London`s military airfield and provides transiting facilities for a wide range of passengers. RAF Northolt is also a well-established centre for business aviation; handling over 7000 movements per year from a wide variety of commercial aviation providers.
The Aircraft Engineering Section (AMS) Shift Leader will report into the Aircraft Engineer Manager (AEM) and will be resposible for:
Day-to-day management, supervision welfare and conduct of their respectivemanpower, including any Sponsored Reserve (SR) personnel, employed in the activitiesassociated with Forward maintenance of the fixed wing Aircraft of 32 (TR) Sqn.
Exercising overall control of access to and all activities associated with aircraft
Undergoing Forward maintenance and random rectification tasks.
Familiarisation with the contents of the MAP 100A-01 (Military Aviation Regulation & Policy) and associated Company Procedures.
Liaising closely with the Depth Team Leaders to identify the most effective disposition of manpower
Additionally, the AMS Shift Leader is responsible for:
Exercising disciplinary control over AMS staff engaged in delivering the output for which the Chief Engineer is responsible.
Discharging the responsibilities of the Line Manager for AMS staff. This will include:
Producing annual Personal Development Reports (PDRs) for their direct subordinates and ensuring that PDRs are produced for all their shift personnel.
Where necessary, initiating appropriate disciplinary action in circumstances where a delay in so doing would be detrimental to the Company’s performance and/or its reputation.
Co-ordinating immediate responses to accidents, incidents, occurrences and other unusual events and conducting appropriate initial technical investigations.
Ensure that amendment to Air Publications, Manuals, Orders, Instructions and mandatory procedures are quickly brought to the attention of all concerned and that accurate records are maintained of their having read those amendments.
Ensure that all working environments and rest facilities remain clean, tidy, safe and healthy, and waste products are disposed of in accordance with current regulations
To fulfil the requirements the Shift Leader will be required to have the following competencies:
Working knowledge and experience of RAF Engineering Policy.
Working knowledge and RAF aircraft documentation.
Experience and understanding of Level G responsibilities.
Computer literate in Word and Excel
