In a nutshell, you'll run your own 'store within a store', creating an exciting place to both shop and work. That means as a Department Manager, you'll be involved in everything from motivating your team to developing long-term sales growth within the store. Every day you'll expertly delegate tasks, allocate resources, and make informed commercial decisions based on our customers' needs. In fact, you'll be a customer 'champion', working on the shop floor alongside your team to increase sales and inspire our customers to carry out their home projects with absolute confidence.
It's a high-pressure role, so we're looking for a Department Manager with a proven track record of leading, inspiring and motivating a team in a customer-facing environment, as well as successfully achieving targets and KPIs. With a genuine passion for people and a commitment to our shared values of 'Customer', 'Family' and 'Can do', you'll be proactive, open-minded, and a natural leader - confident to take action and considered risks while empowering those around you. It's important that you're flexible about when you can work too, as you'll be covering store opening hours on a rota basis, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. A valid driving licence is preferable. To really excel as a Department Manager, you'll also need high levels of focus, energy and drive.
We're big on encouraging and supporting promotion from within. All across B&Q, you'll find initiatives designed to give colleagues the opportunity to develop quicker, grow in their role, and take their careers in new directions. So make your mark, show us what you can do, and build a career to be proud of.
