gap technical are proud to be representing this exciting scientific business in their search for a Development Engineer to work at their facility based in Wrexham. The company design and build cutting edge scientific instruments which they supply to clients globally.

The successful candidate will come into an established, successful team and be exposed to challenge and diversity in their role on a daily basis. This would suit someone looking for a step into a role where they can work across the whole engineering function and bring development projects together.

Performance Objectives

  • Develop and continuously improve systems in terms of performance and lean manufacturing.
  • Oversee design and build documentation for newly developed products and improvements
  • Assist in instrument software and firmware development in conjunction with Applications scientists and customers
  • Assist and support the Test department where required
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Maintaining and modifying existing systems
  • Working collaboratively with design engineers, electronic engineers, purchasers and other internal staff
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant authorities (eg External compliance agencies etc)
  • Project management within cost and time constrained environments.

Person Specification

  • Practical Scientific Instrumentation knowledge is essential. Must have worked hands on in a role where they have developed instrumentation.
  • Knowledge and an interest of getting involved with the development of Software and Firmware would also be highly desirable.
  • Candidates must be qualified to at least degree level in Physics, chemistry or Engineering.
  • Experience communicating at all levels either from running projects or working in a similar commercial role such as applications.
