The aim of Montessori teaching is to learn by doing, rather than finishing an activity or making an item to take home.

You'll guide young children rather than give instructions, using specially designed equipment to cover 6 core areas of

learning:

practical activities used in everyday lifetraining the senses - sight, hearing, touch, taste, smellliteracy and languagenumeracy and arithmeticknowledge and understanding of the world and different culturescreativityYour day-to-day duties might include:

planning a programme of work and activitiespreparing the learning areas and resources, and making sure they're safewatching the children and making notes of progress and issuesmaking sure all children have equal chances to learnsupporting parents and involving themlooking after sick or injured childrenhelping with dressing and undressing when neededfeeding children when requiredattending staff meetingskeeping records and writing reportsPerson Specification:

The ideal candidate will:

Be a qualified childcare practitioner minimum NVQ3, with Montessori qualifications being highly desirable.Have 1 year+ experience in an appropriate childcare settingStrong understanding of the developmental needs of children.First aid qualification (or willingness to train)Knowledge of health and safety and ability to complete risk assessmentsKnowledge and understanding of safeguarding good practice.The position is full time BUT Term time 42 weeks per year and salary for the role in negotiable for the right candidate.
