Salary & Benefits - £19,800 - £24,750 per annum dependent on experience + company van, attractive pension, quarterly performance related bonus, 25 days annual leave & training & development opportunities in line with the Operational Jetting Technician progression plan

This is a mobile role working within the York & surrounding area, with your base as Malton Waste Water Treatment Works

What will the role involve ?

As an Operational Jetting Technician you are required to operate a Jet Van vehicle in a safe and optimal way to respond to reactive pollution reports from the sewer network and provide high quality investigations into sewer related incidents. You will work closely with network service teams to carry out proactive jetting work, support with jetting response in times of high work volumes and escalation and support catchment operations with jetting needs.

You will take personal responsibility to understand the Heath & Safety requirements of the jet van operation and support the development of processes to manage Health & Safety performance and to ensure compliance with the Yorkshire Water Safety Policy.

You will ensure training requirements are met and kept in date to operate the vehicle safely and to ensure you are compliant with driving regulations and safety standards including working at heights, safe entry into a confined space and high pressure jetting.

You will develop an understanding of the importance to respond to and own a pollution incident, completing the required investigation report and investigation work to understand the root cause of the pollution and also ensure the pollution is resolved, impacts reduced and any issues mitigated. You will also ensure the pollution procedure is adhered to on every incident with regards reporting, recording and resolving the incident.

You will need to maintain high standards for the sites which you work on and the vehicles which you use ensuring it is fit for purpose at all times. Whilst also ensuring your vehicle and equipment is maintained to ensure its reliability and efficiency, reporting all defects to be repaired as soon as possible.

As part of this role you will be required to join a standby rota to support with emergency work out of hours, once you are fully trained in the role.

What skills are we looking for ?

You will be operating a high pressured jetting vehicle. and carrying out a range of manual handling duties including heavy lifting of manhole covers and operating heavy equipment involving high pressure water jetting systems and sewer cameras. You will have a strong Health & Safety background and be competent in the use of IT systems and the ability to be proactive and take ownership of issues. You will have the ability to think through problems and work with others to solve them, finding faults and diagnosing the root cause of an issue.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable liaising with operational teams, customers and stakeholders.

You will need a full valid EU driving licence and an LGV Class 3 driving licence (C1)

It would be advantageous if you have previous jet van operation experience or experience of driving liquid loads and a basic understanding of the sewer network, although full training will be provided. This includes High Pressure Jetting Training, Confined Space & NRAWSA.

You will be required to travel to site whilst training, but once fully trained you will be given your own jetting van.
