We want to speak with you about a brilliant opportunity in a leading, well established mainstream Primary School in Bradford who are looking to appoint a SEN Teaching Assistant to provide pivotal and life changing support to a pupil with learning difficulties.

This is a long term role to start as soon as possible and will be ongoing until at least Easter half term, with a view to extend for the right person. The pupil is in Year 2, and although this role is to focus on the needs of this pupil, you may also be expected to assist with other children in the Early Years Stage. The role will include the following duties:

  • Assist with general basic learning in the classroom
  • Ensure the pupil is kept on task and pushing to reach their academic target
  • Encourage, motivate and drive the pupil to reach their full potential
  • Be a main point of contact for the pupil and his direct carers to communicate with regarding developments, concerns and progress
  • Report to the teacher on learning progress and developments
  • Engage in activities and learning plans with the pupil to show encouragement
  • Provide a safe, comfortable environment for the pupil
  • Assist in lesson planning and differentiating work for the pupil
  • Help within the classroom on resources and displays
  • Assist the teacher with lessons in Early Years when not working directly with the SEN pupil

The role will require someone with the following skills and experiences:

  • Diligent and hard working nature
  • Calm and able to make themselves approachable for children
  • Experience of working with SEN pupil/s previously
  • Has experience of working in mainstream primary
  • Can build relationships quickly and gain trust
  • Communicates effectively with children, staff and parents / carers
  • Any sort of relevant child based qualification will be advantageous but not essential
