Polytec has an exciting new opportunity for an Engineering Apprentice/Technician. Our client is based in South Cambridgeshire, close to the Royston area and is easily accessible by rail and road. They are happy to offer a higher apprenticeship to candidates with a qualification, or would also look to employ someone newly qualified, as a more junior Engineering Technician.
You'll support complex and custom product manufacture, technical changes to existing products and new product development and introduction to manufacture.

What You'll Be Doing:

* Work within the R&D team to plan and execute the assembly and test of small volume custom and prototype products.
* Assemble complex electro-mechanical assemblies from schematics and design documentation.
* Test assemblies and products for safety and performance.
* Assist with the investigation and resolution of technical issues.
* Help out with product design at a level appropriate to your competence and learning stage.
* Prepare documentation under supervision for internal use.
* Attend college as part of the Apprenticeship.
* Completion of all relevant self-development activities as part of Apprenticeship, including in your own time.

What We're Looking For:

* 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A*-C (Level 4 or better) to include English and Maths.
* NVQ in Electronics or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
* Use of computers and office applications for email, creating documents etc.
* Use of basic engineering tools and equipment.
* Electronics or Electro-Mechanical design & manufacturing environment.
* You enjoy working in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment.
* Structured and methodical approach with good attention to detail.
* Aspiration to learn and develop competence.
* Flexible approach to work in a busy and changing environment.
* Self-disciplined and excellent time management skills
* Demonstrate initiative and commitment to a technical career path.
* 'Can do' attitude.
