In this role you will be creating a centre of excellence for data development. Developing, monitoring & maintaining the data availability & quality of the Bank’s new and existing data platforms. You’ll be managing the interface during (build) for the new Teradata & Hadoop Managed Service team. You’ll develop the Bank’s data platform roadmap to meet the needs of the business. A key part of the role will be working with the Change team to embed the data components of projects into the Bank’s data infrastructure in the cloud.You’ll be:
  • Leading, managing & coaching the data development team and relevant outsourced agencies
  • Acting as an advocate for data & insight generation across the business
  • Working with the Customer Insights & wider business teams to ensure the new Data platform and business requirements are available for appropriate colleague use
  • Managing and facilitating the delivery of market leading data platforms for structured and unstructured data to enable insight generation across the business
  • Encouraging, managing, facilitating & implementing the automation of all data related processes
  • Working with the Change team to manage the quality & quantity of data related components of the Bank’s change programme
  • Ensure all documentation is up to date & proportionate to business requirement
  • Managing overhead costs within Budget with no surprises

You’ll bring:

  • Experience with Hadoop/Spark, Teradata, SAS, SQL, AWS, Infomatica, Power BI.
  • Experience of building key internal relationships: Marketing, Products, Risk, Distribution, Finance & Change & IT
  • Experience of building key external relationships: Stakeholder technical support (Teradata, Hadoop, Sainsbury’s), Hardware providers (e.g. Teradata) and Software providers (e.g. SAS, Angoss, Affinium, Microstrategy etc)
  • The ability to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to working closely with others to deliver results
  • A proven track record of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team
  • Exceptional communication skills - ability to communicate effectively with anyone in any environment
  • Experience of Agile and DevOps in data development
