TITLE: Claims Assistant


LOCATION: Felixstowe

HOURS: 9am – 5pm Monday – Friday

SALARY: Competitive


A superb opportunity has arisen with my client, a global freight forwarding and supply chain management specialist. You will need to have an excellent track record processing cargo claims and extensive knowledge of air and sea carriage conventions.

What you’ll be doing

Process all cargo related claims for sea and air freight movements including registration, recording, processing, rejection or settlement in accordance with company policies and procedures

Maintain KPI measures

Limit our client’s liability by ensuring no claims are settled without recourse

Maintain local and global claims logs

Analyse claim trends to identify potential areas for improvement and highlight to the relevant stakeholders

Promote understanding and knowledge of the claims handling procedures within the organisation

Look for ways to improve services to both internal and external customers with a focus on efficiency improvements

Liaise with internal and external clients in a professional and efficient manner

Be aware of location and content of all quality procedures relating to our client and ensure claims related procedures are maintained to reflect the current working practices

Prepare monthly management reports

Travel within the UK and overseas may be required

What we’re looking for

Previous experience within a similar claims based role with good knowledge of International transport conventions air & sea is essential

Strong communication skills both written and verbal and an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft packages especially Excel

Excellent multi tasker who can work under their own initiative with coordination and collaboration skills

Confident and motivated with strong negotiation and persuasion skills
