EMC TEST ENGINEER
Role – EMC Test Engineer
Location – Ringwood, Dorset
Salary – £25,000 – £34,000 + 25 Days Holiday
ATA Recruitment are currently working with a global group of testing businesses with over 2,000 employees globally and a global turnover of $300 Million. The UK business is responsible for providing product testing services to many different industries including telecommunication, oil & gas, aerospace and many more. They are able to test anything from a toy to a tank and specialise in providing every testing service ‘all under one roof’.
The business has multiple sites across the UK, the site close to Ringwood in Dorset specalise EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) testing for many commercial products including laptops, wifi routers and mobile phones.
My client can recruit people from several different backgrounds.
1 . An electronic/telecommunication/signals graduate who has a passion to get into an EMC based role .
2. An electronic engineer who has had previous exposure of fault finding to component level and had excellent electronic principle knowledge.
3. An engineer with previous experience within the EMC of RF field who wants to focus on the testing side of the role.
Your role will begin with being taught all about EMC Testing. You will shadow more experienced members of staff and take on board their knowledge and expertise before beginning to run more basic test programmes.
As you develop you will become a fully fledged EMC Test Engineer in your own right.
As an EMC Test Engineer you will be carrying out EMC Tests on mainly commercial products however you many also work with military and MOD products as well to check that their emissions comply with required standards.
These products include computers, hand held electronic devices, cockpit electronics, tank control systems and any other product that has electronics in it.
These tests include:
EMC Immunity Tests – Bombarding the product with EMC radiation to see how well protected the product is.
EMC Radiation Tests – Checking the natural levels of EMC Radiation the product emits and see if these complies with relevant standards.
Quite often customers will be present on site during testing so you will also need to keep them fully informed of testing progress and ensure they are happy with the outcome of the tests.
You will also create all reports required following EMC Testing.
To be successful as an EMC Test Engineer you will need:
An electronic based qualification (City & Guilds, HND, HNC, BEng, MEng)
To be an electronic/telecommunication/signals graduate who has a passion to get into an EMC based role.
To be an electronic engineer who has had previous exposure of fault finding to component level and had excellent electronic principle knowledge.
To be an engineer with previous experience within the EMC of RF field who wants to focus on the testing side of the role.
