CDM are delighted to be working with an international business who specialise in the design, development and manufacture of metal automotive components.

Due to ongoing growth and an extremely positive year, there is an immediate, Permanent requirement for an Aluminium Casting Engineer to join the successful operation in the North East.

Reporting to the PMPD Manager, this role is responsible for the development of key automotive components whilst ensuring customer/client requirements are fulfilled and communicated.

Key Responsibilities

  • ·Developing aluminum casting components during the chassis design development phase, guiding design team towards the most efficient casting design;
  • ·Assessing manufacturing feasibility of chassis aluminum casting components;
  • ·Selecting the best technology for chassis manufacturing – gravity, LPDC, HPDC, Squeeze Casting, etc.;
  • ·Defining the optimal process flow for casting manufacturing;
  • ·Interaction with final OEM during development of chassis assemblies – understanding and transferring requirements to the development team;
  • ·Interaction with casting suppliers.
  • ·Working with the Costing Department for the quotation of the defined casting process.
Skills, Experience and Behaviour

  • ·Previous experience on Casting processes, specially low pressure casting processes;
  • ·Expertise on Aluminum casting materials;
  • ·Understanding of other processes, such as extrusion, will be a plus;
  • ·Background on Automotive or Aeronautical sector;
  • ·Chassis or structural parts knowledge will be highly appreciated;
  • Good communication skills to interact at all levels across the business including customers and suppliers.
  • Strong team-working skills, decision making, and ability to provide direction as appropriate.
  • Proactive and positive attitude and approach
  • Availability to travel
