Dementia Adviser Join our team, take on dementia Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. We provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia. Position: Dementia Adviser Location: Welwyn Garden City (role covers North West and South West Hertfordshire) Contract type: Permanent Hours: 17.5 per week Salary: £10,492 per annum (actual) Closing date: 5pm on 18th January 2018 Interview date: Friday 26th January 2018 About the role: Alzheimer`s Society delivers one to one dementia support in Hertfordshire as part of Hertfordshire County Council`s community dementia support services. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the service delivery model for one to one dementia support working as part of the community team. This post will cover the North West and South West Herts area and be office based at our Welwyn Garden City Office. You will be the first point of contact for people affected by dementia and provide a quality information and sign posting service. You will assess and evaluate service users level of need and where appropriate refer on the Dementia Support Workers in your team. The Dementia Adviser role will be supported by up to 6 volunteers, who you will have management responsibility for, with support from the Volunteer Officer. About you: We are looking for individuals educated to NVQ level 3 or equivalent (or demonstrable experience) with the following skills: - Good organising and time management skills - Good communication skills - An understanding of dementia - Good IT skills - Experience of working with statutory and voluntary agencies - Experience of record keeping and report writing - An understanding of the need for client confidentiality Desirable skills: - An understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers - Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Health & Safety and the Mental Capacity Act - Experience of managing volunteers Alzheimer`s Society is committed to equal opportunities.
