Role description Operative will assist the Multi Skilled Mains and Service Technical Operative (Team Leader) to undertake the activities related to attending installing new mains and services to multi occupancy buildings (MOBS) following Public Reported gas escapes or mains replacement activities. He or she will assist in replacing gas service pipes or mains, laying mains and/or services in Polyethylene and various diameter and carrying out mains / service isolations as a Support Operative. Undertake driving duties (including towing of mobile plant) PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES The job holder will participate in the provision of a team to restore gas to MOB buildings service which must be delivered in a safe, cost effective and efficient manner. Activities include supporting the installation of the new replacement gas mains and services, excavation, testing, survey, and diagnostic work on the network and in gas consumer's premises. The job holder will be required to fulfil Principal Accountabilities from those listed below which are appropriate to the activity to which he or she is assigned:- · Receive instructions via data and verbal requests, plan and organise materials/plant and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that delivery is carried out efficiently. · Assist in laying, connecting, disconnecting, commissioning, decommissioning and maintaining pipework, associated plant and equipment. · Respond to various work activities, participate in applicable standby arrangements · Work within and promote the philosophy of team working and development across all Triio, Morrison Utility Services, Skanska and Cadent activities to achieve business objectives and improve performance. NATURE AND SCOPE The job holder may well be an experienced practitioner in one aspect of the work, but, with appropriate training may also undertake work across a wider cross section of work. The job holder will often be working outside and will therefore be subject to variable working conditions and some duties will involve significant physical activity. Knowledge and competence of relevant aspects of the New Roads and Street Works Act is necessary for those involved in excavation work. Working knowledge of regulations associated with the disposal of waste will be required. Current Competencies The job holder will need to demonstrate that they are competent in the following core skills in the manner that conforms with best practice within their current working environment: · Locate and avoid supply apparatus and sub-structures ie electric cables · Excavate holes and trenches in ground and pavement structures · Operate powered tools and equipment for routine and predictable requirements · Assist in the Installation of engineering products or assets · Assist in the Replacement of assembly or sub assembly components · Prepare work areas and materials for engineering activities · Assist in the segregation of the area for highways / site works · Assist in the jointing of materials by manually or machine controlled thermal processes · Use Breathing Apparatus · Possession of a suitable Driving Licence Please quote reference MUS/V/172/tRIIO when applying for this role
