The Role Summary

The roles of Trainee and Junior Account Handler are entry-level roles within the Customer Service Team. Account Handlers are responsible for handling customer enquiries, orders, and accounts on a day-to-day basis. Trainee and Junior Account Handlers are required to build competency in our systems, sales processes, delivery processes, and product knowledge before progressing to higher grades.

Team members join the Customer Service team as Trainees. Following the successful completion of the probation period, the post holder will progress to the role of Junior Account Handler. The Customer Service Grading Structure details the competency development expectations for these roles.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

As part of the team, you will…

  • Liaise with customers, clients and colleagues in a helpful and courteous manner
  • Prepare quotations, confirmations, pick lists, purchase orders, stock requests and invoices under the direct supervision of a CS grade 3+ Account Handler
  • Coordinate the booking and availability of products for hire/ sale via our asset management system
  • Keep all our systems and information up to date in an accurate and timely manner
  • Handle the delivery of orders in collaboration with our operational warehouse teams
  • Ensure that all company processes and procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Assist the Customer Service team with general research and administration (i.e. product information sourcing, competitor pricing research, customer follow ups)
  • Learn about the company and its history, current activities, products, systems, processes and technical expertise in order to deal effectively with customers
  • Work to generate profit in line with departmental targets and budget
