As manager of a proactive team, you will need to have at least two years’ management or team leader experience, as well as at least two years’ experience in event management.

Working closely with the events team, you will implement and develop a successful and profitable annual b2b events programme with the aim of supporting local business growth through our wider membership retention programme. Experience of managing a small team, with an understanding of motivating and developing staff as well as delivering formal staff appraisals is essential.

We are looking for someone who will have demonstrable experience of building, maintaining and utilising successful relationships with a wide range of business people and internal contacts to ensure your events are well promoted and attended. Your role will include booking local and national business leader speakers so experience in this is a must, as well as the ability to work with partners, stakeholders and others and use expertise to shape a successful outcome, managing expectations and keeping everyone informed.

As well as managing the team you will have responsibility for the event management of some of our leading events, ranging from intimate business leader dinners to some of the most popular networking events taking place across Suffolk. The role includes visiting venues and event planning to delivery on the day and post-event follow up so a good understanding of the conference and events industry is a must, as well as experience in budget management.

Based in Ipswich but covering events across the county, you will work closely with the team, colleagues and line manager to ensure smooth delivery of all events so any risks and opportunities are fully managed.

With experience in promoting and marketing events via email, online and through social media, you will have outstanding communication and organisation skills as well as providing creative and innovative ideas for events that support and attract local businesses.

With a collaborative and proactive approach, you will have the ability to 'think on your feet’ and problem solve under pressure as well as taking action and resolve issues as they arise, finding positive outcomes for customers and the business.

You will regularly have competing priorities, and so the ability to multi-task and manage your time efficiently is a must. With excellent networking and negotiating skills and a positive and flexible approach to working, including some out of hours work, you will also have a good understanding of health and safety requirements relating to event management. Due to the nature of this role some travel is required and so a full driving licence and access to transport is necessary.
