As a senior member of the team in Jersey, the successful candidate will have some responsibility for the delivery and development of our private equity fund accounting services, in a manner that is aligned to the Group brand values and strategic business goals.

Specifically to lead the accounting services provision for a major client relationship, working closely with the Associate Director responsible for Administration and the Client Relationship Director to deliver a superior standard of service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and lead the accounting of the more complex requirements of the client’s affairs
  • Technical review all aspects of accounting matters incorporating investor reports, statutory financial statements, fund technicalities, and ad-hoc investor and client queries
  • Act as a higher authority on day-to-day accounting queries and as senior 4-eyes on accounting matters, ensuring that accounting standards, company policy, internal controls and professional guidelines are adhered to, evolved where necessary, and that a professional quality service is provided to clients and outside contacts
  • Oversee the audit process for the client, building a strong, collaborative relationship with the auditor
  • Attend and lead client meetings and workshops and contribute to planning and review of client activity
  • Ensure the accounting requirements and statutory and client reporting deadlines are met, overseeing planning, scheduling, and monitoring of workloads
  • Act as a mentor to Managers and supervise and assist in the training and development of staff
  • Key contact in a significant client relationship and responsible for accounting service delivery
  • Lead, challenge, appraise and develop a high calibre and growing team of accountants
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a network of legal, tax and other professional advisors
  • Attend and participate at jurisdictional, management and product meetings as required
  • Where necessary, act as director on the section’s client board
  • Act as A signatory for Jersey signatory list
  • Assist in review WIP incurred and utilisation across teams to ensure that extra billing opportunities are identified and appropriate action taken
  • Where necessary, participate in new client proposals/pitches as necessary, and manage the integration of new clients into the group’s procedures
  • Assist in the on-going training and development requirements of team members
  • Assist with client fee negotiations
  • Contribute towards the business as a whole, for instance, in identifying improvements in policies and procedures that apply across the business; create a holistic approach to administration
  • Actively manage the development and appraisal process for all direct reports

Skills, knowledge, expertise:

  • Considerable practical fund accounting experience, with ideally an audit background
  • 10 years post qualification experience (ACA, FCCA or similar)
  • Excellent technical accounting and financial services knowledge (to be supported through the Academy)
  • Computer literacy, word processing and spread sheet skills are essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to develop close working relationships with colleagues, clients and intermediary contacts
  • Experience of day to day supervision of a team(s)
  • Evidence of full responsibility for a major client relationship(s)

They will provide the training for relevant technical knowledge and soft skills development. You will need to be quick to grasp and notice the important details and great with people, as building close and trusted working relationships with the wider group.
