We have a close working relationship with the specialties in ED including acute physicians and the hospital at night team is based in ED.
There is 24/7 resident radiographers to provide cover for CT as well as for X-ray. In addition to this, there are established guidelines for Trauma and non-trauma patients requiring CT out of hours.
The ED undertakes the reception, diagnosis and initial treatment of patients and ensures the appropriate referral of patients to hospital beds, special units, and outpatients or back to the community. Activities such as procedural sedation (adults and children) and ultrasound are actively encouraged. ENP service is provided by three ENP's and they are present between 0700 and 2300 hrs. There is also provision for expansion of ENP services in PCH.

There is support from intermediate care teams & a nurse led mental health team is available 24/7.
