Embedded Software Engineer - Linux
A proficient Embedded Software Engineer with in-depth experience of writing real time device drivers for Linux is required to join a dynamic team working on board support packages and middleware for cutting edge Intel and ARM processor based embedded boards.
Qualified to Degree level in an Engineering related discipline, you’ll have several years’ commercial Software design experience as well as having a good appreciation of hardware.
The focus of this Embedded Software role will be the design and development of middleware, system and device driver software. You’ll work on challenging customer issues, within a small company environment, closely interacting with hardware designers during the design phase to specify the product, and again during the proving phase to validate the product.
The key technical requirements are:
Expertise in Embedded C.
Strong hands-on experience writing real time device drivers for Linux.
Good knowledge of ARM, PowerPC, x86 or other large CPU architecture.
An understanding of hardware.
It would also be beneficial to have some experience with programming for parallel processor architectures, have some hands-on knowledge of PCI Express, SRIO and VME fabrics and writing low level software for VxWorks or Windows.
