Central Employment are looking for a Marketing & Bids Assistant based in the Bristol area. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career professional to join a dynamic Bids and Marketing team.

My client, are national, award winning engineering consultancy are looking for someone starting out in their career with an interest in how business works and an enthusiasm for and an ability to write compelling content.

This role will require you to monitor a range of online portals for business opportunities for their wide and diverse national business and respond rapidly to requests for information about the business from a range of their most important clients. In addition, you will be required to research and write up case studies that illustrate the work that engineering teams conduct for clients and support UK bids and marketing team in a number of other ways.

The role will report to the companies Bid Manager, however, you will also receive day-to-day guidance and coaching from their bids team to ensure you can grow in this role. You will also receive overall coaching from the companies Marketing Director to give you the opportunity to learn more about a marketing role in a B2B environment to help further your long-term career aspirations.

Core job functions

  • Contribute within the team to researching, reviewing, writing and editing project case studies and CVs
  • Support the delivery of commercial bids, working with other members of the bids team and technical teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Contribute within the team to researching and writing internal news announcements on project wins, new appointments etc.
  • Monitor online portals on a daily basis for commercial opportunities, assess the opportunities and share appropriately within the business
  • Manage the completion of supplier questionnaires and handle the provision of certificates and insurance details to clients when requested
  • Support the team in the delivery of essential administrative tasks that enable the delivery of marketing activity on time and to a high standard
  • Build relationships with staff at all levels across the business to support a collaborative approach to the delivery of bids and marketing output.

Skills and attributes

  • Preference for college or university education with either a written English or business/management academic background
  • Experience in working in a B2B marketing, sales and or a bids related role, ideally within a engineering / industrial organisation
  • Passion and enthusiasm for writing with good editing and proofing skills
  • Desire to understand how a business works and a willingness to understand its services and products
  • Strong inter-personal skills
  • Team player
  • Meticulous attention to detail and highly organised
  • Able to adapt quickly to change under pressure
  • Able to manage multiple tasks concurrently and engage with a wide range of stakeholders
  • IT skills are desired, preferably Powerpoint, Excel and Adobe InDesign - willingness to learn new IT skills is important
  • Ability to process and analyse a broad range of data and information quickly and effectively
  • Able to work to tight deadlines.
